I couldn't stand it anymore!!!

Sit down ladies this is scary. This is my craft room.

I am lucky enough to have one room dedicated to my crafting. I keep just stuffing things in the room and it was to the point that I couldn't get in.

Then the crafting impulses started - what can I do I can't get in?
Only one thing to do - clean it up!!! So since I was bored and Michigan was losing (again) I entered the room of doom. I took my time sorting thru everything that I had just shoved in there, Repacked things, emptied the trash (times 2). I can now create and I started right in.

Today I made the wreath to put on my Mom's gravesite. No I dont' feel bad for making the wreath - she loved my wreaths. Mom supported my crafting - often by buying me more crafting stuff.

So now I'm heading back in - what to do next?

Ode to Dorothy

Today I attended the funeral of a dear friend. Dorothy was into her 90's (a lady does not disclose her age even for her obituary) and one of the deareast ladies I have had the honor to meet.
I learned that she did not like to be seen without her legs covered, her hair done, her hearing aids in and with her glasses on.
In her hands at most times were her glasses case and a tissue.
She also loved kisses and hugs. She had a gentle touch.
I paid my last respects to a dear lady today and my life is better for taking care and knowing her.
The Dash

I read of a man who stood to speak
at the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the date on her tombstone
from the beginning...to the end.

He noted that first came the date of her birth
and spoke of the following date with a tear
But he said what mattered most of all
was the DASH between those years.

For that dash represents all the time
that she spent alive on earth...
And now only those who loved her
know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not how much we own;
the car, the house, the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
and how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard...
are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left,
(You could be at "dash mid-range")

If we could just slow down long enough
to consider what's true and real,
And always try to understand
the way other people feel...

And be less quick to anger,
and show appreciation more,
And love the people in our lives
like we've never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect,
and more often wear a smile...
Remembering that this special dash
might only last a little while.

So, when your eulogy is being read
with your life's actions to rehash,
Would you be proud of the things they said
about how you spent your dash?

Great mail day

With the exception of my water bill everything was great mail.

I won a friends give away on her blog and that came today. She also sent a full box of other things for me. Fresh Texas pecans (Yummy too Greg had to open then and eat a few), a pretty red (my favorite color) tablecloth, some jewerly pretty earrings, and a couple necklaces and my giveawy prize a really cute pincushion.
The fabric is so cute little angels on the top in a lovely pink fabric. The underside is a solid yellow piece.
The rest of the mail was an envelope from Vocalpoint. Coupons for Del Monte Sun fruit: a Buy one Get one free, and 5 - $1 off one. I really enjoy this fruit but it is so expensive. But I'll watch the Giant Eagle ads and when they go on sale these coupons will double and make for some nice cheap fruit. And look at the cute mouse pad they sent. It looks like a record.

Wind casualty

Out front of our home we have a huge Pine tree, the Christmas tree we call it.

Well not only does the pair of squirrels use the tree for entertainment but we had a pair of Cardinals that liked the tree.

Yesterday a nasty cold front started moving in bringing cold air, rain and lots of wind. The wind is so strong that it is blowing against the back wall of the home and I can feel the walls moving against my back. And we have a 6 ft tall shed behind our home!!!

Well when I ran out to put something in the mailbox I noticed a big pile of needles and mud on the sidewalk. A nest had been blown out of the tree. I was surprised at how well constructed it was. It feel from the tree, hit concrete and still managed to stay together.

Special day for the Logan family

Today was a very special day for my family.
A little background May 14, 1983 my brother Tommy was hit by a car. The damage was severe and over the next 3 or 4 days we nearly lost him. He survived but has permanent handicaps from it.

Well why today was so special is that he was installed as the Worshipful Master of his Masonic Lodge.
Tommy receiving his charge for leading the Lodge. While we were eating dinner I looked at him in his tuxedo and realized my younger brother is a grown man. I was watching his hands, gone are the little boy hands that used to beat me up. What has replaced them are hands of a man, kind and grown.

Many years have passed and my little brother has grown. We are all very proud of him today.
This is our Dad - he did the installing work.
The family that was present. In order my husband Greg, Tommy, myself, My Dad and stepmom Patti.

Do you like free stuff??

My friend Laura is giving away a really cute pincushion on her blog. If your interested please pop over and enter. If not don't enter so I can win it!!! But really pop over and at least read her blog she is in the process of making a fairy garden.
