Recipe review - Picadillo

Sorry apparently I deleted the picture from my camera. this is another recipe from the Readers Digest Like Grandma Used to Make cookbook.

Ingrediants
1 pound ground beef
2 cloves garlic - minced
1 can (141/2 oz) low sodium stewed tomatoes
1 medium apple - unpeeled and chopped
4 large green onions with tops - finely chopped
1/3 cup raisins
1/4 cup water
2 Tbsp chopped pimiento-stuffed green olives
1 Tbsp chopped pickled jalapeno pepper
1 Tbsp vinegar
1/2 tsp celery seeds
1/4 EACH salt and black pepper
1/8 tsp ground cloves
3 Tbsp slivered almonds, if desired

Brown ground beef and drain off fat.
In same pan add all other ingrediants but the almonds.
Bring to a boil, lower heat to simmer
Simmer covered for 20 minutes
Add almonds (if using) and cook 1 minute more
Serve over hot rice

Serves 4 people

Results - not good. Greg & I did not care for the combination of ingrediants. I took it to potluck at church and they did not seem to enjoy it either. Won't make again.
