Sloppy Rice casserole - recipe review

1 - 141/2 jar sloppy joe mix
1 12 oz package ground meatless product, or 12 oz ground turkey or ground beef (eye of round), cooked (I used turkey)
1/1/2 cups water
1 4oz can mushroom pieces, undrained
2 Tbsp sugar (I used Spenda)
3 cups instant rice

Combine all but the rice in a nonstick saucepan
Bring to a boil
Add rice and remove from heat.
Mix and cover with lid
Let stand for 7 minutes or until the water is absorbed
Fluff and serve

Good when I first tasted it (right after water was absorbed). But when it had sat until we ate potluck (about an hour) it had no flavor. I watched as people tried it and not many ate their serving.
